Isozymes of hair follicles from silver fox, Vulpes vulpes

چکیده
Isozymes have been studied in blood from the silver fox Vulpes vulpes and a few enzymes expressed variation (Simonsen et al. 1990). However, if live animals are to be studied obtainment of blood samples requires fixation or anaesthesia. Tissue samples are even more difficult to obtain. Earlier investigations, especially in forensic medicine, used a piece of cloth with e.g. bloodstains for detection of possible persons involved in a crime. The technique used was application of a thread or a hair sac directly on the gel and the following wellestablished electrophoretic methods. When pulling out a hair a very small amount of muscle will be attached to the hair sac and this sample is expected to express the same enzymes as muscle tissue. This study was undertaken to see if it was possible to obtain a sufficient amount of material from a hair follicle for a zymogram. If a zymogram was revealed it was compared to the one obtained from muscle tissue of silver fox, Vulpes vulpes.

The First Papillomavirus Isolated from Vulpes vulpes (VvulPV1) Is Basal to the Gammapapillomavirus Genus
We report the complete genomic sequence of Vulpes vulpes papillomavirus type 1 (VvulPV1), isolated from the hair follicles of a red fox. VvulPV1 does not cluster with other carnivoran papillomaviruses, and is instead a sister taxon to the Gammapapillomavirus genus, thus sustaining the scenario of a biphasic evolution of papillomaviruses.

متن کاملContents of Copper, Chromium, Nickel, Lead, and Zinc in Hair and Skin of Farm Foxes
The content of trace elements (Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb, and Zn) in hair and skin of silver fox (Vulpes vulpes) and arctic fox (Alopex lagopus) were determined. The content of elements were determined using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Samples of animal hair and skin were collected from two farms located in mid-western Poland: farm A, situated in a rural area and far...
متن کاملPrevalence of parasitic infections in the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) and golden Jackal (Canis aureus) in Iran
Red foxes and golden jackals are the two most abundant wild carnivores of Iran which have the ability to adopt a variety of habitats and human proximity. Despite this, very few investigations on their helminth and none on their external parasites infections have been carried out in Iran. Between 2003 and 2004, a total of 79 jackals and 37 foxes were collected from 3 different climatic zones of ...
